Christus Victor & a Pit Bull Attack

Last night, Sunday June the 13th, my Father was walking his little lap dog down our street. A pit bull dog charged across the street after little Max. The pit bull grabbed Max in his jaws & my Dad grabbed its jaws to hold them open.
Can you say, "Let's Get Ready to Rumble!!!!?" Dad was amazed at the power of this dog. They literally wrestled across the entire street. Dad was bitten badly during this time.
God gave Dad the presence of mind to wrap the leash around the dog's neck & strangle it. He made sure it wasn't going to get up...ever again.
He then grabbed his poor little Max & ran the quarter mile home. Now Dad is 68 years old but don't tell that to the pit bull.
We went to the ER & he was just covered with puncture wounds, abrasions & in some places - literally chunks of flesh just missing - ripped out by a dog trained to fight.
When I saw Dad his pants & shirt had more rips & holes than not. He looked like he had gone through a shredder. He was covered in his own blood.
Now, because whoever owned that dog immediately disposed of the body, He may have to get a series of shots for rabies. We don't know yet.
What does that have to do with Christ our "Christus Victor"? Well I just couldn't help being reminded of how Christ ripped me out of the jaws of Satan, how he was torn in the process & how he bled & how ultimately He slew the serpent & won the keys to death, hell & the grave. Why? For the same reason a 68 year old man would attack a pit bull with his bear hands...LOVE. A love that makes no logical sense mind you but love none the less. Jesus WON our ransom - He rescued us & defeated our foe forever! And he did it out of LOVE. I was just as helpless as little Max & Christ was just as committed as my Dad & infinitely more.
A torn & bleeding Father, a grateful lap dog, a helpless sinner & a victorious messiah - My Christus Victor!
"But God demonstrated his love by sending Christ to die for us while we yet hated him"

Vintage Dziaduls

Sam going for a ride with Uncle Andy's 'Car'
Andy loves his wheels! He rides all over our community. I never know where I'll run into him. He loves his new found freedom!
"Schnitzel" His name is short for wiener schnitzel. He is a cool little dog & we all are crazy about him.

Queen "Sheba" - the best natural cammo I've ever not seen. Too bad she's dumb as a brick!
We're trying to figure out how to contain her. She climbs the fence like a person would - putting her paws in the chain links & jumping over the top. My big boys are installing an invisible fence. Training of our brainiac brindle bull dog begins next week...to be continued

Dog Poor

I don't know for sure but I may have lost my mind. We now have 6 children & 3 dogs! Bella the Bagel (part beagle & part basset hound) was a Christmas present for the kids (a weak moment of temporary insanity) She was so cute as a tiny puppy. Now she is three fourths grown an is your basic freak of nature.

Schnitzel showed up at our house...well, in our road - literally. He was laying in the middle of the road...napping. He's a full blooded daschund & we've been trying to find his owners. He's house trained & more obedient than any of my children. He is smitten with Anna & she with he. What's a Dad to do?
Neither of these 'dogs' are large enough or fierce enough to deter an ill intended thief or neerdowell from my property. Hence...Sheba. She's not very terrifying right now but give her six months. I love her brindle striping & her broad head. She's going to be a great guard dog one day.
Zack observed that we have an international flavor in our dogs: Bella is Italian, Schnitzel is German, & Sheba is African.

A Dog's Life

This is our beloved family pet "Trigger". He just loves to sit & soak up the sun on a cool autumn afternoon. He also enjoys making a "nest" of the fallen leaves in which he curls up for a "dog nap". What a life! I guess its a trade off for having to eat dog food.
